The Durham YFC Mentoring Project is a project that offers support to young people involved in the criminal justice system, or those who are at risk of offending. Young people will be offered the chance to meet weekly with a supportive adult who will offer support, be a positive role model and will help young people address life issues. For these young people, who often live complex and chaotic lives, the presence of a consistent, positive adult can have a great effect and can enable young people to believe in themselves and their potential to achieve.
We already have a number of volunteers who meet regularly with their metees, with positive effects, and would love to hear from anyone else who might be interested. Check the news page on our website for the next training dates. All mentors will be fully supported, trained and resourced by the Mentoring Coordinator, John Ristway.
